HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY
Venue: Mercury Bay Multisport Park
POLICY STATEMENT

Mercury Bay Pickleball Club is committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for everyone involved in its activities, including members, volunteers, participants, and visitors.
We believe that a safe and healthy environment is everyone's responsibility and will take all reasonably practicable steps to prevent harm from occurring. No activity is so urgent that there is insufficient time to do it safely.

Manage hazards by eliminating them, or where not reasonably practicable, minimising them.
-
Ensure all incidents, injuries, and near misses are reported and investigated.
-
Provide health and safety information, appropriate training, and necessary equipment (e.g., first aid kits).
-
Develop and communicate emergency procedures.

Members and Participants will:

INCIDENT & EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

First Aid and Incidents
-
A First Aid Kit is with the session convenor.
-
An Accident Report Book is available to record all incidents requiring first aid.
-
A defibrillator is located in the “Red Cabinet” located in the walk thru wind tunnel in the middle of the sports facility located behind the pickleball courts, lift off the red cover per instructions on the front and dial 111, ask for ambulance services and they will advise the code to access the black cabinet inside that contains the defibrillator. Unlock the two latches on the right hand side of the black cabinet. An alarm will sound to alert people in the vicinity that an incident has occurred and qualified assistance may be required.
-
Serious injuries or incidents that require notification to WorkSafe NZ will be handled by the Club Committee.

Emergency Evacuation
In the event of a fire, earthquake, or other event requiring evacuation, all occupants shall cease activities immediately and move to the designated assembly area (car park away from vehicles) via the safest route. Members should familiarise themselves with the exits and emergency assembly points at the playing venue.
HAZARD MANAGEMENT

The club maintains a Hazard Register to document all identified hazards and the procedures to manage them. Common hazards for pickleball include:
